All applications for research degrees must be supported with some required documents. Additional documents may be provided depending on your faculty and individual circumstances.
Documents that are not in English must be officially translated, and all official documents must be certified in accordance with UTS guidelines. Only documents submitted with the application and meeting certification requirements will be assessed.
Applications or documents submitted after the scholarship deadline will be assessed for candidature only.
Applications that do not meet English language requirements will not be assessed and will be closed.

Translating documents
Documents that are not in English must be officially translated and submitted together with certified copies of supporting documents.
Officers authorised to translate official documents into English include:
- National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters
- the institution where you completed your studies
- UTS authorised agents, and
- public notaries.
Certifying documents
The documents you use in your application must be certified to confirm their authenticity. Hard copies of original documents are not required unless sent directly to UTS by the issuing university or institution. The certified copies will be held as a record of the university and cannot be returned to you.
We consider documents certified if they are:
- certified by an authorised officer (see section below How to certify copies of your documents)
- sent to us directly by the original issuing institution
- issued via a digital qualification platform such as CHESICC or My eQuals, or
- certified by a UTS student recruitment agent
Scanned certified documents submitted with your online application must be in high-resolution and in color.
How to send us certified documents
Depending on how you choose to certify your documents you can provide them to us digitally, in person or via the online application.
Privacy notice
We will take steps to verify that documents that have been certified are authentic if we believe that the certification may be in question. We will use the contact details provided by the authorised officer, or obtain them from public registers, for this purpose.
Personal information will be used to investigate any suspected fraudulent activity or other forms of serious wrongdoing, which will be dealt with in line with the Student Rules and/or the Whistleblowing and Public Interest Disclosures Policy as appropriate in the circumstances. Suspected fraudulent activity may also be referred to the police.
