UTS Building 2: UTS Central – 15 Broadway, Ultimo

Building 2

Faculty of Law and UTS Library

Located next to the UTS Tower and opposite Central Park on Broadway, UTS Central is a striking, 17-storey, glass-encased building that has redefined the southern gateway to Sydney’s CBD. UTS Central adds to the architectural diversity of the UTS campus and to the array of learning, teaching and research facilities on campus. It's home to the Hive Superlab, three large high-tech collaborative classrooms and research spaces for the Faculty of Engineering and IT.

 UTS Building 4: 745 Harris Street, Ultimo

Faculty of Science

The original Faculty of Science building along Harris and Thomas streets consists of various labs and teaching spaces, as well as informal study areas. A new seven-level research facility accommodating state-of-the-art science labs and other facilities will shortly open at the southern end of Building 4.

UTS Building 6: Peter Johnson Building – 702 Harris Street, Ultimo

Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building

Building 6 is located just next door to the ABC and is a short stroll from George Street, the building is filled with Design, Fashion, Architecture and Building students. This building is home to the University’s largest tiered theatre, The Guthrie Theatre, seating 330 people. Guthrie Theatre has nearby breakout rooms and foyer space that allows for registration and catering.

UTS Building 7: Vicki Sara Building – 67 Thomas Street, Broadway

Faculty of Science

With its distinct curves that lean and bend, allowing maximum sunlight to reach the Alumni Green, and its unique 700 colourful box-style windows, ‘CB07’ is a draw card for both science and architecture lovers. UTS Building 7 has been awarded a 6 Star Green Star Design rating certified by the Green Building Council of Australia. Building 7 includes a green roof, storm water collection and treatment for garden irrigation, solar hot water and many more sustainability features. The Green Theatre seats 185 people in a tiered lecture style, the theatre is completely green – floor, walls and ceiling with quirky ‘beaker’ lighting. The colour green is said to set the mood for a relaxed learning environment.

UTS Building 8: Dr Chau Chak Wing Building – 14 Ultimo Road, Ultimo

UTS Business School

Inspired by the idea of a treehouse, the building was designed by architect Frank Gehry as “a growing learning organism with many branches of thought, some robust and some ephemeral and delicate”. Housing the UTS Business School, this building is popular for conferencing as it has classrooms and large lecture theatres in close proximity to each other and also has a light and airy space for catering. Located in this building are two unique oval teaching spaces which encourage participant engagement and collaboration. The Dr Chau Chak Wing Building has been awarded a 5 Star Green Star Design rating awarded by the Green Building Council of Australia due to a number of sustainable design features including natural daylight, energy efficient building services and rainwater capture.

UTS Building 10: 235 Jones Street, Broadway

Building 10 used to be the old Fairfax headquarters and has won a Sulman design award. This building boasts a large open foyer that takes advantage of the daylight and provides a bright open space. Located across the road from Building 2 and 7, Building 10 has a variety of spaces throughout the building such as collaborative classrooms, pod classrooms, computer labs, nursing labs and the UTS Short Courses Venue.

UTS Building 11: Faculty of Engineering and IT Building – 81 Broadway, Broadway

Faculty of Engineering and IT

As home to the Faculty of Engineering and IT, Building 11 is a state-of-the-art facility encased with semi-transparent ‘binary screens’ which are perforated with binary code. The building’s design is striking inside and out, with innovative teaching and learning spaces including two large collaborative lecture theatres located next to each other and a variety of collaborative classrooms and pod classrooms in different sizes. The building was awarded a 5-star Green Star Design from the Green Building Council of Australia with sustainable features including a roof-top wind turbine, solar panels and solar concentrating troughs.

UTS Building MP01: Moore Park - Corner Moore Park Road and Driver Avenue, Moore Park

sport and exercise

Faculty of Health and Graduate School of Health

This state of the art sport and education hub represents the first time that university programs have been integrated within an Australian elite sporting precinct. The building accommodates sport and exercise science and management programs from the university's Faculty of Health, as well as the Graduate School of Health's physiotherapy program. Just a stone's throw from the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium, the facility enables UTS to cement its sector-leading connections with top sporting organisations based at the precinct. At the same time, the facilities will support UTS to advance its research in areas ranging from skill acquisition and injury prevention/rehabilitation to player/athlete workload and wearable microtechnology.
