Professor Anita Stuhmcke is UTS's Acting Provost and Senior Vice-President. As the primary academic officer, the Provost is the second-in-charge to the Vice-Chancellor and oversees the academic activities of the university.
Anita's role includes a particular focus on:
- the overall academic operations of the university, including management of the faculties
- overseeing the whole of institution deployment of Indigenous strategy, education and support
- promoting social inclusion and widening participation initiatives
- university-wide strategic planning, quality assurance and performance monitoring and reporting, including oversight of key performance indicators
- developing university planning targets
- the Commonwealth funding agreement and broad academic profile management.
Professor Anita Stuhmcke is a distinguished legal scholar committed to excellence and the advancement of social justice, accessibility of legal education and inclusion.
Anita was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law in December 2021. Prior to this appointment, Anita held a variety of management roles, both across the university and within the Faculty of Law. She began her career as a commercial lawyer in a large Australian law firm before joining the university sector as an associate lecturer.
Anita is committed to her teaching through providing a quality student educational experience, as well as to excellence in research through making an intervention in contemporary debate. Her research has had national and international impact, leading to law reform concerning reproductive rights and ombudsman.
